ANCHORS AWAKE

Farragut's own version of Starbucks

Every Tuesday and Thursday morning beginning at 8:05 am, SGA sells coffee, hot chocolate, and tea for $2 a cup. All profit goes back to the library.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

Anchors Awake exists to support good causes. We do not earn any money; we are a catalyst that uses excellent beverages to cause students to give back to their community and world. This mission makes us unique. Our goal is to make a good cup of coffee for the absolute minimum cost so that we can maximize the percentage of every dollar that leaves our hands.
So once you’ve enjoyed your cup of joe and we’ve taken your dollar, what happens? At the end of each school year, the total profits of the business are tabulated. Let’s say that our gross profit was $150 and our expenses were $50. So the net profit, $100, in its entirety will now be sent to our charity.
This school year, SGA has decided to donate 100% of all net profit to the FHS school library.

A COFFEE SHOP ON A MISSION

“Here at Farragut High School Student Government, our mission is to provide students with the means to put their best foot forward. With Anchors Awake, I’m glad to know that this mission is being realized. We offer quality, hot beverages to help students kick start their day, as well as make them feel fresh and motivated for the learning ahead. Run exclusively by your SGA representatives, Anchors Awake produces piping hot chocolate, coffee, and an assortment of teas to all of Farragut High School. But what’s more outstanding is that this kiosk is not designed to make a profit. All proceeds go directly to local charities to make Knoxville a better place. No wages, no revenue, just some good ol’ coffee. Thus, this seemingly tiny project improves the lives of our students not only in class, but in their homes and communities as well. And that’s really what it’s all about.” -Parin Bhaduri, Vice President 2016-2017
